Indicator repeaters and rear light clusters

I need to add a photo of the repeaters as but they are all securely fitted. Only small issue is the wiring colours don't match the diagram. That however is tomorrow's problem.

Rear light clusters and hood sticks added

Not many jobs left now!

Wings and exhaust

Using big head fasteners I attached both front wings

The rear wings are also fitted

And the exhaust is now fitted as well, but I think I will need to take the can off when the amourfend is fitted.

Fluids in

With help from my dad the following are now completed

1.brakes bled

2.Gearbox filled

3. Coolant filled

50:50 coolant to water. It has taken 12 pints, but suspect there is still some air trapped

4. Clutch bled

No photos I am afraid. I had to move the stop to get full disengagement.

5. Oil in (millers 10w30 running in oil), I have also bought some Fuchs Tition Pro S 5w40 to be used after the first 500 miles.

Finished riveting and trimming. Lap belts fitted

I have very tried hands as, I have completed all of the rivets tonight.

The yellow marks indicate which ones I wanted to leave until the door straps are fitted.

I have also fitted the lap belts from the four point harnesses.

I have ignored the handed labels on the boxes so the buckles are inboard.  This ensures that any passenger can't throw them outwards and dent the outer panel.

Airbox and a little more on the Interior

My throttle bodies are not going to be fitted until after it is registered. So, I am adding the airbox until then

I am missing a few nuts and washers, however. So whilst it looks correct it needs to be removed again before being secured finally.

I have also drilled and started to rivet the sill protectors

I have done a few more than one but not many!

Starting on the interior and some cooling mods

New thrust washer sent, received and fitted

Tunnel carpets fitted, but rather than using glue I decided to use Velcro.

I also fitted the tunnel top

In addition I have started the modifications

Oil temp switch

It is quite scary drilling a hole in the dash, but it worked out fine.

Finally I also bought some rubber to fabricate some flaps to cover the front anti roll bar slots. Without them the efficiency of the fan in the cowl will be comprmised.

I am quite please with them.

Which thrust washer

The rear hub thrust washer differ and I am not sure why.

One is plain and one is a friction washer.

I have sent a mail to Derek, but if anyone knows which is correct, or which hand they go on that would be great.

Rear end build

I am getting carried away with building rather than blogging sorry.

I also have (or rather had) a new friend

Having relocated my new friend I could get on with the build.

Ears and rear brakes dry fitted so I could fit the brake lines in the correct location.

Next was fitting the dedion to the car - not much clearance

Radius arms fitted

I have completed a few more jobs since these photos were taken, but I am falling behind my self imposed schedule. More updates to come.

I am going round the bend....

Or at least I will be able to as I now have a steering wheel

That all for today

Tuesday 28 April 2015

Oil pipes, steering column and sump plug

Oil pipes done.

Steering column in, no photos of that I am afraid.

And is this the sump drain? I was sent a plug to replace a cap head screw and am told it is the one in the middle of the dry sump.... I am guessing this one, but don't want to un screw something important

Monday 27 April 2015

It has been a while!

I have had a busy week at work and my parents staying so have not been doing much on the car but I have improved some of the cooling pipe work, fitted the cowling, radiator front anti roll bar, oil cooler and roll bar. I have probably done a few other bits I can't remember.

Not the best photos but I am sitting on the sofa and am not going back out to the garage.

I have also sent some questions to Derek as the oil system pipe work, diagram and sump don't align see photos below at tell me if you understand it

As I don't

Sump protection

In a previous post I mention the gap between the bell housing and dry sump pan.

Having mention the hole, and sent a picture, to Derek, he sent the sump sump protector/hole blocker.

Questions about cooling

As the title suggests I have a few more questions. I have sent them to Derek and hope for a reply on Monday.

1. As I don't have a heater I have joined the water connection at the
rear right of the engine to a T piece. I have positioned this at the
water connection front left, just above the lower radiator pipe and
connected it to the smaller outlet. The third leg of the t piece joins
to the lower connection on the expansion tank. Is this all correct?

2.  I have a short metal male male union with threaded boss (temp
sensor) half way along it. See photo. Do I need to put this in the
pipeline?

3. If it is needed which sensor is needed? See photo. I believe they
are for different garage types. If it is the one with the round
connection how does the connection work?

4. Again if it is the round type, will I need to use the same for the
oil temp sensor?

5. I think I have the wrong type of cowling. See photo. The fan is
significantly larger and the connections don't line up. Furthermore
the instructions talk of a front cowling as well as a rear. I have the
rear (but sigma) but no front.

6. I have connected the small water outlet at the rear of the engine
directly to the expansion tank is this correct?

I am sure this one is correct! But it is worth checking.
